Construction Manager | TSF Construction | Ghana | 8/3 Expat Rotation

Strata Search is recruiting an experienced Construction Manager for a mining construction project in Ghana.

This is a senior expatriate advisory position for a South African construction professional with 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗧𝗦𝗙) 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 experience and a strong background in large-scale bulk earthworks.

The successful candidate must understand the realities of delivering earthworks production in an active mining environment, coordinating heavy equipment, people, materials, quality and safety to achieve construction targets.

𝗧𝗦𝗙 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

𝗞𝗘𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦
• Lead day-to-day TSF and bulk earthworks construction activities
• Plan, sequence and coordinate construction works against programme and production targets
• Manage excavation, loading, hauling, placement, spreading and compaction activities
• Coordinate large HME fleets across earthmoving operations
• Manage site supervisors, operators and construction teams
• Monitor daily and weekly production performance and address constraints
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials and other site resources
• Ensure works are executed in accordance with drawings, specifications and approved construction methodologies
• Maintain required compaction, material placement and construction quality standards
• Work closely with survey and QA/QC teams to ensure compliance with design requirements
• Drive HSE standards and safe operating practices across construction activities
• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical corrective actions
• Coordinate closely with engineering, commercial, contracts, maintenance and project leadership teams
• Monitor equipment utilisation and work with maintenance teams to minimise the impact of fleet downtime on production
• Mentor local supervisors and construction personnel and actively transfer practical construction and management skills

𝗥𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘
• Proven Construction Management experience on 𝗧𝗦𝗙 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 projects
• Extensive bulk earthworks and embankment construction experience
• Strong understanding of excavation, haulage, material placement, moisture conditioning and compaction
• Experience managing large earthmoving fleets including dozers, excavators, articulated dump trucks, graders, compactors and supporting plant
• Strong construction planning, sequencing and production-management capability
• Experience managing large site teams, supervisors and equipment operators
• Strong QA/QC understanding within engineered earthworks
• Strong HSE leadership within mining/heavy civil construction
• Mining contractor or heavy civil contractor background strongly preferred
• Previous African mining/construction project experience highly advantageous
• Previous expatriate/rotation experience advantageous

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗢𝗡
We are looking for a hands-on Construction Manager who is comfortable where the work is happening: 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲, 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁.

This is not a general building construction position. Candidates need genuine TSF, major earthworks and heavy equipment construction exposure.

The role has a significant advisory and skills-transfer component. The successful candidate will be expected to develop local supervisors and construction teams, transfer practical knowledge and strengthen local capability while maintaining delivery standards.

Strong ethics, resilience, practical judgement and the ability to operate effectively in a rugged African project environment are essential.
