Strata Search is recruiting an experienced Contract Manager for a major mining/heavy civil construction project in Ghana.

This is a senior advisory role requiring strong practical knowledge of FIDIC contract administration and claims management, ideally developed from the contractor side of mining, bulk earthworks, TSF or major civil construction projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with project, construction and commercial teams to protect contractual entitlement, manage commercial risk and ensure contractual requirements are properly administered throughout project execution.

Key Responsibilities
• Administer contracts in accordance with FIDIC conditions and project requirements
• Identify, prepare, substantiate and manage contractual claims
• Manage variations, contractual notices, instructions and change events
• Prepare and manage Extension of Time (EOT) submissions where applicable
• Maintain accurate contractual correspondence and supporting records
• Identify contractual and commercial risks and advise project management accordingly
• Monitor compliance with contractual obligations and time bars
• Support the commercial management of project changes and disputes
• Work closely with QS, construction and project leadership teams
• Assist with negotiations and resolution of contractual matters
• Maintain strong contemporaneous records to support contractual entitlement
• Mentor and develop local commercial/contracts personnel and actively transfer skills

Required Experience
• Extensive Contract Management experience within mining, heavy civil construction or bulk earthworks
• Strong practical FIDIC experience
• Demonstrable claims preparation and claims management experience
• Strong knowledge of variations, notices, EOTs and contractual correspondence
• Contractor-side project experience strongly preferred
• Previous African mining/construction project or expatriate experience advantageous
• Strong commercial judgement and attention to contractual detail
• Comfortable working in a demanding site-based African project environment

We are looking for a resilient, commercially astute professional with strong ethics and sound judgement. This is not purely a corporate contracts position. The successful candidate must be comfortable working close to project execution and capable of transferring knowledge and developing local team capability.

Location: Ghana
Rotation: 8 weeks on / 3 weeks off
Target Market: South African expatriate professionals
