Senior Quantity Surveyor | TSF Construction | Ghana | 8/3 Expat Rotation

Strata Search is recruiting an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor for a mining construction project in Ghana.

This is a senior expatriate advisory position for a South African QS with proven 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗧𝗦𝗙) 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 experience and a strong grounding in bulk earthworks and heavy civil construction.

𝗧𝗦𝗙 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

The successful candidate will need to understand the commercial realities of delivering large-scale earthworks and TSF construction from the contractor side, with the ability to work closely with construction, contracts and project teams on site.

𝗞𝗘𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦
• Manage quantity surveying and commercial activities across the construction scope
• Measure and value completed earthworks and construction activities
• Prepare progress valuations and payment applications
• Manage variations and changes to scope
• Monitor actual project costs against budgets
• Prepare cost forecasts and commercial reports
• Maintain accurate measurement, quantity and commercial records
• Manage subcontractor measurement, valuations and commercial matters
• Support contractual claims with accurate measurement and cost information
• Track quantities, production and commercial performance
• Identify emerging cost exposure and commercial risks
• Work closely with Contracts, Construction and Project Management teams
• Support commercial close-out and final account activities where required
• Mentor and develop local QS/commercial personnel through active skills transfer

𝗥𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘
• Proven Quantity Surveying experience on 𝗧𝗦𝗙 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 projects
• Strong bulk earthworks and heavy civil construction experience
• Contractor-side project experience strongly preferred
• Strong measurement and valuation capability
• Cost control, budgeting and forecasting experience
• Variations and change-management experience
• Progress claims and commercial reporting experience
• Strong understanding of earthworks quantities, production and construction costs
• Mining contractor / heavy civil contractor background preferred
• Previous African mining or construction project experience highly advantageous
• Previous expatriate/rotation experience advantageous

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗢𝗡
We are looking for a practical, site-experienced QS who is comfortable working in a rugged African mining/construction environment.

This is not a building QS position. Candidates should have genuine exposure to large-scale civil, earthworks and, importantly, TSF construction.

The position has a significant advisory component. The successful candidate will be expected to work effectively with local teams, mentor developing commercial personnel and actively transfer practical QS and commercial knowledge.

Strong ethics, resilience, commercial judgement and the ability to operate effectively in a demanding project environment are important.
